Tazewell County 4 - H Fair Tuesday, July 31, 2007 Pekin, IL. |
CIRT rider, Samantha F. takes a break from competing to make a new friend at the Tazewell County 4-H Fair. The fair was held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 in the Livestock Review Building in Pekin, Illinois. Samantha rode Nettie, a bay Arabian mare in the 4:00 p.m. pattern class. |
Parking spaces at the Pekin arena were few Tuesday afternoon for parents rushing to the competition after work to see their children compete. Erika's Dad, Scott, almost didn't make it. Erika was in the arena, waiting for her turn in the 4:00 p.m. Horsemanship Walk/Trot when Dad finally got there. Erika was all smiles knowing Dad had made it in time. Awards |

Congratulations to the CIRT DRILL TEAM who performed for the crowd of 100+ spectators. Under the direction of Program Coordinator, Jenna Walker, the six riders rode into the small arena confident, consistent and in control. Surrounded by CIRT volunteers who lined the perimeter of the arena, the riders changed directions, performed diagonals, provided the crowd examples of weaving, and topped off their routine with pinwheels.
This year's Drill team is made up of three volunteers and three CIRT 5riders. Our compliments to this group who worked very hard together, and together, gave an outstanding performance!
Congratulations! Jenna Josie, Barbara, Amanda, Erika, Ashley & Jeremy

Special Olympics Maui-Jim Horse Trials July 15, 2007 Wayne, IL. |
Erika concentrates on her routine before performing Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the Maui-Jim Special Olympics in Wayne, Illinois. 4 members of the CIRT team traveled to the town of Wayne (near St. Charles, IL.) to compete in English Tack in dressage & working trail. In addition, all riders were eligible to show in the UPHA Challege Cup Class. |
| Amanda also competed on Sunday which took real fortitude after spending the week prior volunteering at the 4-H State Fair in Springfield, IL. The hot, sticky Illinois weather in July was really draining and Amanda was tired, but she did a great job and represented our kids with dignity and pride. |

Hayden is magical on a horse. Rusty is an Appendix Quarter Horse who has had 1st level dressage training and Hayden is a runner. He runs everywhere. It is wonderful to watch the two perform as one. I enjoyed watching them very much. |
Nothing ruffles Jeremy. He quietly goes about his business and waits for his turn. And when it's turn - boy does he do it well! Jeremy and his horse, Hank, took it all in stride Sunday as they competed in English Tack, Working Trail and in the UPHA Challenge Cup. Jeremy took 1st in all three of his classes. Congratulations Jeremy! Awards : Photo Gallery
