Announcement! Major Announcement!
Major Announcement! Central
Illinois Riding Therapy is happy to announce that our after dinner entertainment
this year will be the...
West MacQueen Street Band ...a
seven member band that brings a unique feel to music: it's like Chicago meeting
Boz Scaggs, mix in a little Bruce Springstein and throw in some Doobie Brothers.
The band has over 1000 live performances and cut a CD in 2003 entitled, Street
Signs. "Our
band name comes from a street located in the middle of the city of Peoria, Illinois.
Located on this street is a house that has had the sound of rock 'n' roll music
coming from it since the early days of the Beatles. There, two great parents allowed
their son to live a dream and form a rock band. Musicians came in and out of this
home for almost thirty years and their music continues to fill the streets!"

in the Clowns Marilee
Wilkinson is a Christian school teacher who likes to "clown around."
She has been clowning for over fifteen years all over the world, including China
and the Philippines. Marilee says she clowns for children because she loves "to
see their faces light up with a smile." Look for Marilee at Polo on the Green...she
will be making balloon animals for the children between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. She
will be wearing bib overalls and a big, red nose.
8-8-07 Writer
Ann Knoll from Hagel Publications wrote a very nice article about the upcoming
Polo & Picnic fundraiser that was published in the 8/7/2007 editions of the
Morton Courier, Washington Courier and the Woodford County Courier. The article,
featured on the front page of all three editions, gives all the details of the
event and points out just where the money raised goes to. Here's a small excerpt
from 'Polo and Picnic on the Green' to raise money for Central Illinois
Riding Therapy by Ann Knoll. "CIRT
currently has about 60 riders from 3 to 65 with varied disabilities, such as autism,
Down's syndrome, ADHD, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, as well as people recovering
from injuries...horseback riding helps improve student's physical abilities, posture,
balance, socialization and self-confidence. Volunteers have seen autistic children
talk to horses when they won't talk to anyone else..." CIRT
wishes to thank Joi DeArmond, Roger Hagel, Ann Knoll and everyone at Hagel Publications
for consistently being so good to us at Central Illinois Riding Therapy. We consider
you special CIRT friends. See
you on the 25th -- Terri

7-29-07 We're
wrapping up our submissions for our Polo &
Picnic Program Guide with August 1st being the cut-off date. The next step is
to insert the last minute Ads, include the donor names and make any final revisions.
Then it is off to the printers and out of our hands to be ready for Polo day.
We will still take donations after this date, and donators names will be listed
on our website, however, it will be too late
to get their names into the guide. One
of the things that we have added to our fundraiser this year that we did not have
last year during our hours of demonstrations and children's activities is the
wonderful world of music. Willana
Vogel - Accordian Player
will play from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
during horse demonstrations activities. We
are happy to announce that ONE of our featured musical guests is Willana
Vogel, an accomplished Accordian player who will play for us from 1:00 to
2:00 p.m. Willana has played the accordian since she was a youngster. She is a
member of the Peoria Area Accordion Club and performs with the Nostalgic
Swing Band and the Kaiser Wilhelm Ratskeller Brummers. Willana performs
solo at the Lindenhaus (German American Hall) three times a month. She enjoys
playing at retirement homes for seniors and others and is available to give accordion
lessons. Willana may be reached at 309-346-1007.
See
you on the 25th - Terri

7-25-07
It's
exactly 4 weeks until Polo & Picnic on the Green. We've been planning
this event since last January of '07 so it just seems unreal that the day is really
here already! It came up on us so fast again this year! So what is different this
year...well let me tell you. Wheeeeee! Pull up a chair because this may take awhile... Our
committee changed a little this year
as most do and we are still adding new members. Some of our members from last
year really hung in and hung on and bless 'em stayed on the committee even though
they went through some really hard life changes. Our new members have brought
new insights and a freshness that is exhilating. Our "experienced" members
provided the stability of a good foundation to leap from and that added up to
one exciting day we have planned for you. Our
mini-polo & picnic website was added this year to give you more information
about our upcoming event and to give you a place to go for downloading flyers,
brochures, registration forms and schedules. The
pages are designed for you to find information quickly and easily. On each page
too, you will be reminded of last year's fantastic event if you attended, by the
wonderful photographs taken by professional photographer, Tom
Grange, which have been included throughout this mini-site; and more are located
on the gallery pages. The polo and picnic pages are
as follows:
